Let's see, where to start? I've always gone back and forth with my weight. Being a little "thick" through most of my teenage years. Then, when I moved out on my own and started going out all the time making my health the last of my worries I lost quite a bit of weight. After about a year of that I fell in love and got pregnant with my first child. I made that an excuse to eat anything and everything I wanted. It was a free for all. I ended up having a complete placental abruption which meant emergency c-section. After gaining nearly 60 lbs and the c-section I didn't care about myself at all. I figured I'd never get my figure back so why try?! Fast forward a couple years and getting pregnant with #2. I still hadn't lost much of the weight from my first so I only added about 25 more lbs this time. I went into pre-term labor and with the fear of another abruption, had another c-section. My husband is in the oilfield which meant he was gone almost all of the time (no exaggeration there.) Needless to say it was a little hectic at times with a 2 year old and newborn so once again, my weight and health was at the bottom of the list. I was definitely at my heaviest at this point. I'm not exactly sure what I weighed because I avoided the scales like the plague. I also can't find many pictures from this time because I made sure no cameras ever caught me.
After the first year things started calming down and we started to get a routine. I started caring about myself a little more and started eating better and walking whenever I could. My sister in law, who had 2 boys just 15 months apart (our second children were born 1 day apart!) also started getting healthy which helped SO much. We spent the next couple of years working on ourselves (while supporting each other) and getting healthier. Go forward a little more to our trip to Mexico! I was finally at a weight I felt good with and feeling pretty good about myself!
Me on the left with my sister in law/bf in Mexico!
We had a blast on vaca and just a bit after coming home I started feeling a little funky and guess what?! What happens in Mexico, doesn't always stay in Mexico! Baby #3 was on the way :) It was a rough pregnancy. I started having contractions at just 16 weeks and was put on weekly progesterone shots. I was on and off of bed-rest with lots of limitations so I once again gained around 50 lbs. Another c-section and very rough birth.
Family of Five!
After being pumped full of fluids and a few rough days in the hospital we were able to go home. I stepped on the scales to see that I had lost ONE pound. Yes I was devastated. I was huge, and swollen, and miserable and feeling absolutely horrible for feeling so bad when I had just been blessed with another beautiful, healthy baby boy. I caught a bit of the baby blues but went on with life and figuring out how to juggle our new life. After being cleared for exercise I knew I had to start something. When I was around 3 months pp I stumbled upon a fb page of a beachbody coach talking about T25 (Dara from Mamas With Muscles.) I chatted with her a bit and decided I HAD to try it and join one of her accountability groups. It was JUST what I needed. Someone to check in to, share recipes with, it was perfect. The day before my 10 weeks was up I hit my pre pregnancy weight. BUT the absolute best part was how great I felt! I was happy, healthy, I could chase after all three kids!! It was a life changer for sure.
In the meantime, my sister in law had also done the same and signed up to be a coach herself! It seemed perfect so I signed up under her. We were losing weight, getting healthy, and having a blast doing it! Things have pretty much kept on since then. Our main goal is to show other moms they CAN get healthy! We have to make ourselves a priority in this crazy life and sometimes it is super hard to learn the balance.
We are always trying to learn more and better ourselves while on this journey to help others. I am working on getting certified for personal training while Cim (my wonderful sil) is the nutrition expert! I plan on doing some sort of competition next year (eek! did I really just post that for the world to see?!) and we have LOTS of plans to offer other moms, and all women or men for that matter. In the meantime, please feel free to reach out to us for anything. Whether it's through personal training, Beachbody, nutrition, or just support (that's a BIG one) we will do whatever we can to help you!
We will share our journey, workouts, healthy recipes, and lots of other fun stuff so keep checking back!
